Perhaps it's the quiet solitude that comes with being the first to rise, or maybe it's the unbounded joy of not having to be at work. Either way, the first few hours of a Saturday morning are most enjoyable.A few weeks ago, I was shuffling toward the garage with a steaming cup of coffee in one hand and the morning paper in the other. What began as a typical Saturday morning turned into one of those lessons that life seems to hand you from time to time. Let me tell you about it:I turned the dial up into the phone portion of the band on my ham radio in order to listen to a Saturday morning swap net. Along the way, I came across an older sounding chap, with a tremendous signal and a golden voice. You know the kind; he sounded like he should be in the broadcasting business. He was telling whomever he was talking with something about "a thousand marbles."

I was intrigued and stopped to listen to what he had to say."Well, Tom, it sure sounds like you're busy with your job. I'm sure they pay you well but it's a shame you have to be away from home and your family so much. Hard to believe a young fellow should have to work sixty or seventy hours a week to make ends meet. It's too bad you missed your daughter's dance recital," he continued; "Let me tell you something that has helped me keep my own priorities." And that's when he began to explain his theory of a "thousand marbles.""You see, I sat down one day and did a little arithmetic. The average person lives about seventy-five years. I know, some live more and some live less, but on average, folks live about seventy-five years. Now then, I multiplied 75 times 52 and I came up with 3,900, which is the number of Saturdays that the average person has in their entire lifetime.

Now, stick with me, Tom, I'm getting to the important part.It took me until I was fifty-five years old to think about all this in any detail," he went on, "and by that time I had lived through over twenty-eight hundred Saturdays. I got to thinking that if I lived to be seventy-five, I only had about a thousand of them left to enjoy. So I went to a toy store and bought every single marble they had. I ended up having to visit three toy stores to round up 1,000 marbles. I took them home and put them inside a large, clear plastic container right here in the shack next to my gear.Every Saturday since then, I have taken one marble out and thrown it away. I found that by watching the marbles diminish, I focused more on the really important things in life.

There's nothing like watching your time here on this earth run out to help get your priorities straight. Now let me tell you one last thing before I sign off with you and take my lovely wife out for breakfast. This morning, I took the very last marble out of the container. I figure that if I make it until next Saturday then I have been given a little extra time. And the one thing we can all use is a little more time.It was nice to meet you Tom. I hope you spend more time with your family, and I hope to meet you again here on the band. This is a 75 year old man, K9NZQ, clear and going QRT, good morning!"You could have heard a pin drop on the band when this fellow signed off. I guess he gave us all a lot to think about.

I had planned to work on the antenna that morning, and then I was going to meet up with a few hams to work on the next club newsletter.Instead, I went upstairs and woke my wife up with a kiss. "C'mon honey, I'm taking you and the kids to breakfast.""What brought this on?" she asked with a smile."Oh, nothing special, it's just been a long time since we spent a Saturday together with the kids. And hey, can we stop at a toy store while we're out? I need to buy some marbles."

Focus on LESS. There is something amazing that happens when we actually take the time to write them down. It sets in motion our subconscious to begin pulling pieces together to make them happen. The more we review our goals, refine, and break down into bite sized pieces, the more quickly we will manifest our goals.

Keep these ideas in mind as you identify your goals:

1) Begin with the end in mind. You should have a clear vision of what you want to accomplish or what you are trying to achieve. You should also know when you want to achieve your goals.

2) Your goals should be S.M.A.R.T

S for Specific -for example "I will call 5 prospects each day" or "I will hand out 50 prospecting CD's this week."

M for Measurable -Your goal should be measurable so that you will know if yo9u achieved it or not.

A for Agreed Upon-Your goals should be in line with the organization's strategic vision as well as your sponsor and upline's goals and objectives.

R for Realistic-While you should always push yourself by aiming high, you should make sure your goals are realistic and attainable.

T for Timetable-Make sure goals have a due date. Referring once again to our example, your tasks to call prospects or distribute prospecting CD's were both assigned a specific date for completion. Setting a specific time frame will help you to prioritize and keep things on track.

3) Establish short-term, mid-term and long-term goals. A series of short-term goals lead to accomplishing your long-term goals.

4) First things first. List your goals in order of importance, and work on the most important goals first. Reviewing your list of goals regularly will keep you focused and enable you to reprioritize your goals as needed.

Remember, it is small steps that matter. Long-term goals and your personal vision can only be attained if you are willing to commit the time and effort required to succeed.

Create the 2009 of your dreams

How many times have we heard that we are what we think, we are what we eat, we are who we hang around with? The overwhelming evidence is that these statements have much truth in them. If we begin to understand and believe that, we can take actions to use them to our advantage.

I think we all have some sense of "victim" within. There is that feeling that those people, situations, government, spouse, etc are doing something to us. I'm hoping that we can look at it a bit differently in 2009.

What if we take absolute responsibility for our lives and begin today to take the actions necessary to create a new outlook, new possibilities and a new reality for ourselves?

I say YES. For those that are skeptical, I can certainly understand that. It begs the question though, what if we just tried today, just today to make a few different choices. A few less calories, a few less hours sitting in front of the tube and instead using those hours on personal growth, a few more minutes of exercise, one more call to friend or family. Humm. It could be an interesting experiment.

It really is the small steps that do add up over time. I have seen some amazing results in my own life and those that I coach. We ultimately really only have ourselves and we have today.

To your success,

Robb

The Entrepreneur Within

We all have an inner entrepreneur, a voice within that hands out business advice to us all the time. “Purchase this low and sell it high”, or “what a fantastic home investment”, or “that would be a great business idea, I wonder if anyone has thought of that.” There’s no shortage of business ideas, new creative insight or improved ways of getting things done. Now with the Internet new businesses and ideas can be launched overnight with just a few hours of work.

So why then isn’t everyone in business for themselves? Has everything that’s going to be invented or improved upon already been done? Of course we all know the answer to that is a big fat NO! One of the many reasons lies in the fact that, although we all have access to the entrepreneur within, very few of us actually listen to it. Rather than heed the advice of our internal entrepreneur we instead take the ’safe’ and ’secure’ route. Or at least what appears to us at the time a safe and secure route.

All of us at one time or another have encountered some type of negativity or have been criticized when we have put ourselves out there with some new idea, creation or invention. For some it’s hard to once again stick yourself out there and face the world again. Then there are others who have really gone out on a limb and started a business, failed, and are now off on another path so as not to risk failing again.

With every situation, every choice, every decision point each of us has the opportunity to connect to our inner entrepreneur. We all have talents, gifts, abundance and ideas to share with each other here. Don’t hesitate to share what you have or what you feel inspired to do. Without your idea, business or talent we may just have to wait another lifetime for your insight.
I believe that every single problem, crisis and dilemma that humanity faces today already has an answer. The answer lies within an individual or group of individuals however, and many of them are far from the path of discovery. As each of us goes against our true nature, or purpose, we lose sight of the shoreline of our calling. Are you on the right path? Do you know what your true purpose in life is? The answer to the second question is a definite Yes! Now it’s up to you to align your life with it and be able to answer the first question with a profound Yes as well.

If each of us just takes the time, listens to the entrepreneur within and follows our dreams, passions and purpose we may just find that the hard work, perseverance and failure to give up, even in the toughest of times, will place us further along our life path on this human journey. And who knows, you may just have the answer to one of the greatest problems facing mankind just waiting to be invented. Take action today!
(courtesy of humanityonpurpose.com)

Time to cleanse

Who Needs to detoxity?

Some of the worlds leading geneticists have begun to realize that genetics are secondary to toxicity, when it comes to disease.....Since people are taking ownership of their health and becoming partners with their physicians, detoxification has become the primary method of prevention. Instead of waiting for something bad to happen and having to go to the doctor, people are more proactive than ever before. This trend is recurring none too soon, because so many people are getting sick!....Look around you… Children suffer from cancer, diabetes, ADD, AD/HD, obesity, Asthma, to name a few. Adults and elderly are even worse off. Everyday we hear of yet another person in our circle of influence who’s been diagnosed with Cancer, MS, Fibromyalgia, Chronic Fatigue Syndrome along with hundreds of other diseases.....

It’s time to pay close attention to what is going on....

An important part of understanding how to restore and protect our health is becoming informed about how toxic our environment is and how that impacts good health. We’re surrounded constantly by environmental toxins and pollutants. Chemicals and heavy metals are prevalent in skin care products; inside air is hundres of times more toxic than outside air, foods are loaded with herbicides, pesticides and chemicals. Even medications intended to help us are comprised of toxic chemicals.....It is not surprising to learn that a great many of the diseases that are so prevalent today are directly caused by a weakened immune system because of these environmental hazards. With that in mind, the watchword in dietary supplements is going towards detoxification.....

Chemical Revolution....

The need for detoxification is greater now than ever before in the history of mankind. In the 1950’s the chemical revolution began when wartime chemical manufactures lost the market for their product at the end of the war. Executives gathered to create a market for their products that were no longer in demand. It was determined that farmers were a good target market, and they went to work to create a need in the farming industry for chemicals.....Born was the Chemical Revolution, with the introduction of herbicides and pesticides, forever changing our ecology, with wide reaching implications.....Within a matter of a few years, over 90% of all farms were treated with herbicides and pesticides. The chemicals weakened the plants, decreased the nutritional value of the soil and additional chemicals were needed to help ward off pests that previously did not widely damage crops.....Food sources were altered, air and water quality declined, the functions of the human body became burdened with more toxins than the body was designed to manage, and as a result, we are in the midst of a culture of illness and disease.....Each year, more than 200 new man made chemicals are introduced to the environment, most of which are poorly understood in relation to how they will impact our health. The Center for Disease Control (CDC) recently released a study that revealed that 100% of all tumors contain herbicides and pesticides.....

Toxins Are Making us Sick!....

Heavy metal toxicity is also at an all time high. Alzheimers and dementia has been connected with Aluminum toxicity, the main active ingredient in deodorant. Autism to Mercury, which has increased dramatically with the increase in number of vaccines given each year.....Some 70,000 chemicals are being dumped into our environment; 65,000 of which are potentially hazardous to our health, according to the Environmental Protection Agency. We live in a virtual sea of pollutants and carry many of these toxins within our bodies.....It was once thought that the placenta filtered out toxins, protecting unborn babies. It is now known that the best way for a woman to detoxify is to get pregnant because toxins are found even in unborn children, in large quantities. A 2004 study by the Environmental Working Group identified 287 industrial chemicals in babies’ umbilical-cord blood, including 180 known to cause cancer and 217 that are toxic to the brain and nervous system. This is a startling fact, and one that should motivate every young woman to detoxify before getting pregnant, to protect the next generation.....Drinking water nationwide is riddled with Arsenic, as well as other chemicals, antibiotics and toxins. The air that we breathe is complied of the same air that flows through the jet stream and contains over 1,500 metric tons of toxins. Amalgam fillings contain 50% Mercury, the most toxic substance on Earth. Vaccines, once thought to be Mercury free, are preserved with Thimerasol, a Mercury. Vaccines also contain Formaldehyde, an elbalming fluid, along with other neurotoxins.....Rain, falling from the jet stream, onto all crops, contain Mercury as well as other toxins. The toxins grow right inside the food, so you cannot simply wash them off. Then there is the prescriptions drugs that most people take, made of chemicals. Cosmetics, skin care products, household cleaners, carpeting, furniture all contain chemicals that were made by man. Everywhere we turn, even when we make better choices, we are burdening our bodies in this industrialized nation, with more chemicals and heavy metals than ever before in the history of mankind.....

It is prudent to include every man, woman, child and animal… We Are All Toxic!....

I've been life coaching for over five years. It is gratifying to hear good reports on my technique! It is about listening and really hearing what the client is saying and NOT saying. That space "in between" the words can give clues to what is bubbling up for them now. Learning to trust that "gut" feeling more and more and checking in with a feeling that continues to come up. Most times, the client appreciates the inquiry and leaves the call with insights and homework for the week. Self care is always brought up. The mind is orientated to the now. Appreciation abounds. The mind is quiet more and more. The reduction in judgment is noticeable. There is awareness of breath, body, mind, surroundings and that every present being within. There is an orientation to accept what is currently happening. Resistance to “what is” fades and is almost gone.

Friends

Social time is joyful spending time with friends. Feeling at ease and thankful when with them. The relationships flow very well back and forth. There is mutual love, respect and honesty. There is gratitude daily for the friendships that exist. Friends are well thought of and cared for. Communication is very high.

Relationship

Extreme gratitude and humbleness abide for the spiritual connection and commitment that exists. Leadership looks at the whole picture and recognizes those areas that need to be improved. They are strong and state what is desired. They hold people accountable. They go directly to the person they are having an issue with to talk it out. People refrain from gossip. “In person” meetings and phone are used much more than e-mail. This week was ...San Diego and Palm Desert. After about 1/2 day or so, I find myself thinking about my "bubble", my life back in San Jose or wherever I live at that point...

I found myself taking stock in the many blessings that I have and viewing the perceived challenges a bit differently. I thought about past relationships, friendships that have fallen away, about my family and aging grandparents.

I've told many that I haven't lost someone REALLY close...yet. I feel it coming.

I jumped online and pulled up a song that they played at the end of the series..Six Feet Under. I'll attach the link. It is amazing. Don't know if you ever saw the show.

A snippet from journaling tonight.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Impermanence of life

Watched the video from six feet under by Sia, Breathe Me. It is a powerful video showing Claire driving away to start her own life and fast forwarding to the key moments in life of her family and showing each of their deaths culminating in her own passing at 102 years old.

http://youtube.com/watch?v=el4eUKmLujg

Some say that all that ever was and ever will be is contained in the current moment.

It is our brain...our nervous system that is "seeing" everything unfolding at a particular speed that seems to us about 75.7 years of the average lifetime.

Levels of Connection?

Acquaintance

separate
respect
fun
sharing
can be more one sided

Friend

respect
honesty
fun
sharing
history
confidant
laughing

Lover

connection
passion
respect
fun
spontaneous
a dance
eye contact
love
honesty
laughing

Soulmate

connection
love
eye contact
surrender
knowing
compromise
respect
honesty
fun
sharing
passion
confidant
spontaneous
laughing
focus
spiritual bonding

In the moment

I, like most, yearn for connection...connection with something or someone that I can fully commit to. That is why I was so excited in Puerto Vallarta, reading the book "Journey into Now"-- to hit this realization...

I can commit to being present as much as possible each day for the rest of my life.

This was huge for me. I hadn't felt that deeply since 19 years old going into the seminary and committing to helping people as a priest. That only lasted a year and a half and ever since I've felt like an explorer or vagabond roaming the lands looking for my "quest" or "mission" I can latch on to…until now.

There seems to be such a huge need for awareness and presence in the world today. If the gift I have to offer to to model that...I willingly submit.
________________________________________________________________

I was reminded today "all discomfort, angst, depression, anger, pain, etc" comes from some form of resistance to reality ("what is" in this moment).

So often it is subconscious. I know for myself, that I do resist "what is" from time to time.

I have become more and more aware of that resistance which is probably half the battle. To observe and watch myself react, resist, contract breathe. There is a "no" to life in those moments.

It seems the call is to say yes to life as it arises in whatever "form".

Affirmations

I am calm with whatever arises in my external world
I am strong inside
I deserve good news
I deserve to work with good colleagues
I deserve to be surprised with good things
I am prosperous and abundance flows in my life
I am lovable
I deserve and attract new friends
I am at ease sharing who I am with others
I lean toward the positive in all things
I react to things with thoughtful consideration
I bless all those around me
I treat myself to self care things such as massage, reflexology, facial, pleasure reading, working on hobbies
Inner peace is very important to me
There is so much I have to offer
I work in an environment that joyfully receives what I have to offer
Opportunities are forming even as I type this
I am open to what the universe brings/offers to me
I accept praise with humble grace
I honor the divine in all living creatures
I remember to laugh several times per day
I am ok with adjustments to my plan
I am faithful to my values and principles
I speak my truth
I am financial responsible
I save for the future
I take small steps each week toward my goals
I create space for someone special to come in
